National pride aside, why should you apply for USA citizenship?
There are some pretty obvious reasons to apply for your USA citizenship — like getting to vote, getting to swell with pride when you recite the “Pledge of Allegiance”, and getting to claim the greatest country in the world as your own.
However, there are some other great reasons to get your USA citizenship that you may not have thought of — but that are equally-beneficial, like:
1. It cuts down on the paperwork
Hate filling out USCIS forms every couple of years? Hate keeping track of all the rules you have to follow? Hate thinking about end dates? Once you’re officially declared a U.S. citizen, you don’t have to worry about any of that! You’ll simply get to enjoy everything that America has to offer — without clawing through a maze of red tape and landing in a sea of USCIS forms.
2. You get to tell the world that you’re a citizen — literally
Once you’ve got your USA citizenship, you can fill out an application for a U.S. passport.
Why is that such a major accomplishment?
For many people, that’s the first chance they get to leave America in years. (After all, some immigrants aren’t allowed to leave and come back if they want to keep their immigration status in good standing.) For others, showing a U.S. passport at another country’s border is a major accomplishment. It means that they literally get to tell the world that they’re an American!
Once you fill out an application for a U.S. passport, you’ll be able to travel the world knowing that you have the protection of the U.S. embassy with you in whatever country you happen to be in. That alone can make people feel much more comfortable heading abroad.
3. You can stop jumping through hoops
If you had to sit down and explain to someone exactly how to get a Green Card, how long would it take you? Do you even remember all of the hoops you had to jump through to get your own Green Card?
Once you have your USA citizenship, you don’t have to worry about knowing how to get a Green Card. You don’t have to worry about meeting deadlines. You won’t have to feel like you have a “ticket” to live here. You won’t have to give people reasons as to why you live and work here. Instead, you’ll be a citizen until the day you die… How cool is that?!
